The improved facilities will enable all sorts of community events to take place in the Church such as concerts, talks, exhibitions etc. During the evening a cheque for £507 was presented by Fladbury Players, being funds raised by a highly successful " Fladbury's Got Talent " Show which took place earlier in the year. The total cost of the ramp for disabled access to the Church, toilet and kitchenette will be in the region of £70,000 and we already have donations/pledges amounting to £53,000 with a number of grant applications outstanding. Immediately after the Open Evening on 9th May, we decided to call for tenders and our hope is that the work can be completed by the end of the year. The positive mood of the Evening gave us the confidence to go ahead - so it is all " go " from here ! Worship Changes Lives – a Parish review of how we think about worship . The worship changes Lives course (run during Lent ) focussed on what our understanding of worship in this parish. It forms the first part of the review of our worship. A survey of the course is available on the website under Lent Course Findings. The course has triggered a complete review (in consultation with all our church communities ) of all our worship. The process is a lengthy one and will form part of a strategy to be more outward looking and inclusive to all ages. The aim will be to offer a range of liturgy to our parish. It will continue to uphold our current traditions such as BCP as well look at more contemporary types of liturgy . The church stewards are currently compiling a simple exploratory survey to be discussed at the next stewards meeting on 17 May @ the rectory. If you have any comments or suggestions about what kind of services you would like please speak to your church steward before the 17 May. Thanks to all the flower arrangers in all of our churches for the fabulous displays this Easter. Walk of witness Bredon Hill Good Friday
A band of us from the Five Alive Parish walked and witnessed a moving service held on top of Bredon Hill, as we joined folk from all over the deanery. We were joined by three faithful 'Simon from Cyrenes' who carried three crosses from three different villages around the hill to our very own 'Golgotha'. Led by Revd Terry Henderson from Elmley Castle and accompanied by a brass band, we heard a short and moving homily from Revd. Matthew Baynes from Bredon. 150 of us stood at the foot of the cross singing and praying together for our Lord at his death . It was a very moving occasion where Christians of different denominations gathered to worship together.
Parish Lay Leaders Group met at Holland House to study Lectio Divina meaning literally 'divine reading' of scripture. It is hoped that after this great study day that we will be using this method in home groups and house groups.
On Sunday 26th February the congregation of Charlton Church led by the Rev. Stephen Malkinson gathered outside the church to dedicate the new Charlton Church Notice Board, kindly donated by John and Lindsay Airey. The notice board was made by the prisoners of Long Lartin prison.
